What is a Foundations Trained Horse?
Often horses are trained with a specific task in mind, be that working ranch, trail or performance. While a job is important, that task only focus allows alot to slip through the cracks in a horses training.
A Foundations horse is started by first focusing on just that, the foundation. A horse needs to master the basics first and build from there; to the more advanced.
All Foundations horses are started ground up. They learn to be respectful on the ground first before seeing a saddle. This fixes the issue of a pushy horse at the gate, during feeding, while haltering or bridling and makes them just more enjoyable to be around.
When its time to start them under saddle meticulous care is taken to focus on what each individual horse needs. A mistake that is often made in other methods is treating each hosre the same. Every horse learns differently, where as the basic method is the same, it often needs to be tailored to each horse as an individual. The beauty is, once the horse has a solid foundation they can be taken to any discipline with little effort.
Foundations horses are soft through their bodies and give with little pressure to the bridle. Feel what its like to have a truely broke horse. Once you've felt how light a horse can be you'll never want to go back to one that pulls on you. Our horses are truely a willing parter, and a joy to ride regardless if your on the trail or in the show pen.
When a horse likes its job, they're just more enjoyable to be around. Because all Foundations horses have had personalized training, we have a good idea of what they excel at. It makes training a discipline go so much smoother when the horse enjoys what it’s doing.
A Willing Partner
Foundations is not your typical horse training in which there are 10-15 horses to work with a day for maybe 30 minutes at a time. Its quality over quantity. These horses have had 100's of hours of work, under saddle, on the ground, arena and trail. They have been exposed to it all. Your horse will stand tied quietly, bathe and load easily. All horses come with a lesson on how to do the ground work maneuvers they have learned and their riding maneuvers under saddle. and if they ever need a tune up we are available. All our horses are registered and come with their papers. A current Coggins, immunization report and have been health inspected before we buy them, but feel free to do an equine pre-purchase exam of your own. our horse’s range from three years to ten years of age, so you will have a partner you can enjoy for years to come.
